PALO SANTO SKETCHBOOK / JOURNAL
When I traveled with my dad to South America in 2015 to see where he grew up, Palo Santo wood carvings and turned wood objects were everywhere. It is one of the most beautiful woods I have ever worked with. It has an incredible grain – long, wavy stripes, and if you look closely, you will see feathery veins running throughout. Also, it has a wonderful fragrance – part citrus, part smokey. Working with it is such a pleasure and it reminds me of precious time spent with my dad in Paraguay.
