Description

In general, the covers of a book provide protection for their contents.  When I started using logs for covers, it seemed to enhance the idea that books provide protective spaces to either get lost in a story, record history, discover wisdom.  They also can provide a safe space to gather one’s own thoughts, hopes, fears, dreams.

It seemed natural to create a ‘space within a space’ to expand on these ideas of the safety and protection that books have to offer us.  The miniature books hide neatly away within the solid log covers which can be secured by the leather and brass pin closure.

Inside you’ll find aged Strathmore drawing paper (80 lb).  This paper works well with graphite pencil, coloured pencil, pen and ink, marker, soft pastel, mixed media and oil pastel; perfect for all your drawing and writing needs.  Each signature is wrapped in a cover of Strathmore watercolour paper  (130 lb).

Log covers are hand sewn with linen thread using the two needle coptic method of binding.
